The Salmon Cariad

This was from my very first book,"A Bag of Moonshine" by Alan Garner.
I was delighted to find that I still have the original painting.
Cariad is "sweetheart" in Welsh, and after a pretty unpromising start, when she tries to drown him, these two end up living happily ever after.

Hi,PJ,
Lovely work that gives me hints how to handle light under water(*when I swim at an ocean pool, light is so attractive like your work). I enjoy a humorous face expression, too. Thank you.
Kind regards, Sadami

Your representation of the mer-person as having two separate legs with toes is fascinating! Is this a Welsh tradition or the product of your own design? My sister dearly loves water creatures of all permutations so, naturally, I am curious.

All the best,

Aladine.

Hi Sadami and Aladine
Many thanks for the kind comments.
As far as I remember the text has the salmon transforming into a girl, Aladine. It has been many years since I have read it though.
Like your sister, I also love the whole area of merpeople so I should do some more pictures on the subject.
All the best
PJ
