The Snow Queen

This October Andersen Press are publishing a new edition of my version of The Snow Queen by Hans Christian Andersen.
It was originally published in 1993, so I think it was overdue for a re-vamp.
Andersen have completely redesigned the book and I have digitally reworked the image of the Snow Queen on her throne for the new cover.
I had always wanted this to be the cover image, so many thanks to Klaus, Beccy and everyone at Andersen for making a little dream of mine come true.

"The Snow Queen" is my mom's favorite christmas book but our original copy was ruined in a flood. One of the major reasons she likes this book is for the illustrations, which are gorgeous! I've been trying to find a copy with your artwork for years but can't seem to find the original copy.

I remember looking at the pictures of this book as a small child. The picture when the devils trick a man into believing he's old and ugly by showing him a faulty image in the mirror was the one that captured me. Sorta reminded me of the shriveled fingertips you get after a long while in the bath.

Oh my, a few minutes ago I found my childhood copy of Favorite Fairy Tales! The illustrations were so mesmerizing, I have never forgotten your painting of Rapunzel leaning over her husband.

They were so beautiful, I just felt compelled to see if you were on the internet, and take a look at some of your other work.

That's how I find myself here, and just about to visit amazon to see if I can get a copy of The Snow Queen.

I've never forgotten those images in Favorite Fairy Tales, and I doubt I ever will. I am going to look forward to perusing them for hours when i'm old! There is just something so magical about them- about all of your work!

Thank you,

Sophia x

Many thanks Sophia
I had just finished reading a story from Favorite Fairy Tales to my kids when I saw your message.
So glad you liked it when you were younger. And that you liked that particular picture too.
All the best
